Advantages & Disadvantages Of E-Vehicles

Electrical vehicles are the next best thing. Although it is a relatively new concept, it is gaining attention. Most of the automobile companies are opting to design their cars either on the concept of electric vehicles or a hybrid car that can help the consumer and the environment. 

Advantages of E-Vehicles:

1. No gas required – Electric car doesn’t require petrol or diesel. As there is a rise in the fuel charges, maintaining a fuel-based vehicle can cost you a lot. Depending on how much a person spends on fuel per year, it will be a relief to invest in an electrical vehicle.
2. No Emissions – Electric cars run on electricity. It doesn’t emit smoke or gases that are harmful to the environment. You will be contributing to a greener environment.
3. Your drive is safe – Like other cars, electric cars have gone through a lot of safety checks. It is equipped with airbags and in case of an accident, the car stops supplying electricity to the battery which in turn stops the car. This will help people from major injuries.
4. Cost-Effective – As the fuel prices are increasing, it is better to invest in an electric car. With technological advancements, the batteries are mass-produced and are reasonably priced.
5. Low Maintenance – As an electric car runs on electricity, it cuts down on the oiling and servicing of the car. 
6. Noise pollution- Electric car is an effective way to reduce noise pollution as it is quieter than its counterparts. 

Disadvantages of E-Vehicles:

1. Recharge points – As e-vehicles are relatively new, charging points are not easily available hence you may have a problem when you are opting for long journeys.
2. Long charging time – It takes around 4-6 hours to charge an electric car. So, there have to be strategic stops to recharge it.
3. Only 2 seats available – The seating capacity of an electric car is mostly 2, which is a major disadvantage for family’s more than 2.
4. Not apt for cities with large amounts of power cuts- As an electric car requires regular charging. Having an electric car in a city which suffers from constant power outages will not be feasible.
5. Cost may be high – Although it is the next big thing, some electric car models are expensive due to the technology used to build it.
