Ek raasta hai zindagi, jo tham gaye to kuchh nahin. Ye kadam kisi mukaam pe, jo jam gaye to kuchh nahin. Life is a road, if you stop, it means nothing. If these steps, at some point, stop in their tracks, then it means nothing.
I often listen to this lovely song of Kishore Kumar, so beautifully filmed on Shashi Kapoor, when I am right in the middle of my work. And it never fails to reduce the weight of my load – be it an emotional one or a professional one, given the situation!
Maybe at one point in time, these lyrics urged the traveler to walk the journey of life, without stopping. Now, in these fast paced days, the lyrics could also mean, that nothing will happen if you do stop.
Think about it – our pace begins to pick up the minute we put our feet down from our bed. And by the time, we enter a vehicle, we want more speed, so we can reach our destination on time. And then we begin to multi-task to save time and then the rush back home, so we can re-charge our batteries for the next day.
We did everything but pause, stop, look and breathe. How many times have we cherished the unexpected cancellation of an appointment? The vacuum created by the gap is regarded as a treat thrown at us by destiny. Instead of mindlessly watching the vapors of hot tea from the aluminum vessel of the dhaba near your office, why don’t you go and have a cup from the glass tumbler. Got my message?
Next time, look out for those empty minutes of the day! You might start cherishing the journey of life.
